Are there any other cars, apart from the Fiat Multipla, with three seats in the front?
Hugh Murray, Paisley A: The only other car with three seats in the front row is the Honda FR-V which, like the Multipla, offers seating for six over two rows. All six seats slide fore-and-aft individually and also recline. Honda reckons sliding the two centre seats back to create a pair of V-formations is one of the most successful layouts. Although longer than the Multipla at almost 4.30m, the FR-V is narrower, so there isn’t as much shoulder room as in the Fiat. Overall, there’s plenty of room for a family and its luggage, but the centre seats are best left to children. Legroom is good, but three adults sitting abreast would find things tight. Headroom is also compromised in the rearmost seating position. The centre front seat folds in half to create a flat work surface and armrest, and also includes a little concealed storage area under the seat cushion. Prices range from £14,900 to £18,000, so it’s more expensive than the Fiat.
