Are there any side effects to taking black cohosh?
As with any medication or supplement, whether natural, synthetic, prescription or over the counter, side effects are possible. Black cohosh is a ‘natural’ product, but some side effects of black cohosh may include headaches, dizziness, and weight gain. Side effects may include upset stomach, headaches, breast tenderness, dizziness, weight gain or heaviness in legs. Signs of liver damage, allergic reactions, or any other serious side effects should be reported to your health care provider immediately. Serious problems have been reported in newborns whose mothers took black cohosh (in combination with blue cohosh) to induce labor.
