Are there quality requirements set for LCI data in the ELCD database?
The core LCI data sets in the ELCD database reflect best available LCI data for Europe, i.e. they are reflecting reality as far as possible and are country- or technology-specific where required. The provided precision of the data is determined by the required precision in decision making. This means, that for the ELCD database high quality requirements are to be set, as the data can be used in different contexts, some of them with a high data quality requirement. Other quality requirements refer to methodological consistency. Information on various quality aspects is also given in the data set documentation. It is to be highlighted, that the first version of the LCI data sets in the ELCD database did not yet undergo a methodological harmonisation, with certain differences among the data sets are stemming from slightly different methodologies applied by the data developers.
