The answer to that question, is under the Public Information Act, wills are open to the public. If you care to go down to the probate court, an individual can look up in the public record, the contents of anyone’s will. A lot of individuals are not aware of this, but it is something that’s existed in American law, for years and years. There’s only one way to avoid having that type of translucency, and that is to create a family trust, where the trust documents are only visible to members of the family, and their representatives, but a standard will, for the most part, is available for a free look from anyone in the public, and that sometimes is a situation that becomes very difficult for people, to live with, so make sure that you have a discussion with your family, as to what you’re going to do in that regard.
