At what age can most children learn to blow their nose?
My daughter could do it very young as well, like when she was 12-18 months if I remember right. She doesn’t have to do it often, and she’s almost two. Whenever she needs to, I say “Blow your nose,” and I do it myself and she gets it and mimicks me to do it. He’ll learn when he’s ready. If this is his only “delay” developmentally, I’m sure it’s nothing to be concerned over.
On the developmental HELP charts (birth to 3) used by early intervention blowing the nose is a 32-34 month skill. Wiping the nose is 24-30 months. My youngest son was blowing his nose at age 24 months. My oldest was 5. Kids have splintered skills (where they do something advanced at a young age) and some kids hit milestones later than others. Development is uneven, if this is your only concern about your sons development, I would not be worried. My 3 yr old also is not a nose blower. My friend’s kid was blowing at 18 months.
