At what point during the menstrual cycle is a woman most fertile?
Menstrual cycle length varies tremendously among women, although most last between 24 and 36 days. The most fertile time is during ovulation, which normally occurs about 12 to 15 days before the beginning of the next menstrual period. At this time, levels of the hormone LH dramatically increase, and within 36 hours a follicle in the ovary ruptures and releases an egg ready to be fertilised by the mans sperm.
