Bach flower remedies: do they really work?
Flower power. It’s not just something out of the seventies, it also can refer to Bach flower essences, or Bach flower remedies, an alternative medicine approach that is similar to homeopathy in some ways. What are Bach flower remedies? Developed by Dr. Edward Bach, the flower remedies are dilutions of flower “essences” which advocates say help people when their “energetic signature” is transmitted by the flowers to the recipient and affect their psychological state. Some researchers, however, say the effects are purely the placebo effect. Although both homeopathy and Bach flower remedies are said to bestow their benefits via the essence or energy of the substance from which the remedy is made (flowers for Bach essences; various plants, minerals, and animal parts for homeopathy), the two healing methods have differences.
