Break the Cycle of Panic and Anxiety Attacks, You Can Stop Panic and Anxiety With the Right Approach
In order to have any chance of stopping a panic or anxiety attack, you must first regain control of your body, stop the racing of your heart, the sweating, shaking, mind-racing, etc. This is best accomplished, initially, by slow, deep breathing. This will immediately induce relaxation and slow your heart-rate. Second, you must change your thoughts about the situation, removing the irrational fear your are experiencing. This is best accomplished through using your imagination to put yourself in a different, relaxing, safe place. Imagine a time and place where you are at peace, in perfect safety, and enjoying your surroundings. Think of your favorite vacation spot, perhaps a beach setting, with the waves washing over the sand, or whatever environment relaxes you. Third, if necessary and possible, take a small break from the stressful situation. For example, if you are in a restaurant, excuse yourself from you table briefly and go to the restroom.
