Burning smell from BMW X5?

There are many reasons if you smell a burning from BMW-x5.

·         It may be because of the oil level is low in engine.

·         It may be from the tire rubbing.

·         It may because of the wire in the car.

According to me you should take your car to a good service station. European Auto Tech is a service station which provides all solution related to BMW.

If the burning smell comes only when the car comes in contact with liquid turf like you said; there could be possibility of a naked wire or loom which gets shorted with contact in the water, rain, slush etc. You could check the underbody (especially from the area from where the smoke was coming) and replace/repair as required.

My buddy has a BMW X5. Every time the road conditions are wet (rain, slush, or snow), he gets a burning smell inside and outside of the car. It smells like an electrical component or wires. The car is a 2005. I have observed smoke comming from the front left (driver side) side of the car. If anyone has experienced this or knows anything about it I would really appreciate some help. Thank you. A: Probably just the extra money he paid to buy a German vehicle when he could have gotten a better Japanese/Korean SUV for $8000 less with fewer problems.
