CAN A CHOROIDAL NEVUS / MELANOMA BE PREVENTED?
There is no treatment available to actually prevent a nevus or melanoma. Melanomas are more common in sunny parts of the world, so it is advisable for those diagnosed with a choroidal nevus to protect their eyes from significant sunlight exposure. FUTURE The most appropriate treatment for medium and large choroidal melanomas is based on the results of a prospective clinical trial sponsored by the National Eye Institute. The proper treatment of small choroidal melanomas is somewhat controversial, and studies may be conducted in the future regarding this.
