Can a dealer garage “VAG tool” find, modify, or disable AutoWindow?
No, AutoWindow is transparent to servicing tools. Its program memory cannot be accessed or erased by dealer VAG tool or battery changes. The only way AutoWindow can be changed is by programming using the remote (or key) belonging to the car. Since AutoWindow’s presence is not easily determined please inform technicians and/or disable AutoWindow while the car is being serviced, for safety.
