Can a foreign person adopt a child in the Dominican Republic?

0

Foreign persons may adopt minors in Dominican Republic, under the same conditions as Dominican nationals. Adoption is regulated by Law 14-94 on Minors Protection. Adoption requests must be filed with the Regulatory Body of the System for Minors Protection, who makes sure that all legal requirements, including a trial period during which the minor lives together with the adoptive parent(s), are complied with. The Court of Minors may declare the adoption after recommendation of the Regulatory Body and the Fiscal of Minors.
