Can a guinea pig eat cheese?

Q: I just got a new guinea pig and i wanted to know if they can eat cheese. A: In the wild they do not have cheese so they shouldn’t when they are pets either. Think of it this way, in South America when they are wild they are close to the ground and eat grass and other small plants, they do not have access to dairy products. Now a days they get a more varied diet of hay, pellets, vegetables and the occasional fruit yet still dairy, nuts and meat are on the no-no list. Whilst your guinea pig will probably eat the cheese their little systems find it hard to handle so you are better of with vegetables. Good Luck!!
