In response to your question, the Louisiana Physical Therapy Practice Act LRS 37:2410 states: (5)(a) Physical therapist assistant means any person who is a graduate of an accredited school of physical therapy assisting, which school, at the time of graduation, was approved by the American Physical Therapy Association or the Louisiana State Board of Physical Therapy Examiners, and assists in the practice of physical therapy in accordance with the provisions of this Chapter, and who works under the supervision of a physical therapist by performing such patient-related activities assigned by a physical therapist which are commensurate with the physical therapist assistant?s education and training. (b) Physical therapist assistant means equally physical therapy assistant, physiotherapist assistant, and physiotherapy assistant, P.T.A. (c) A physical therapist assistant’s work shall not include the interpretation and implementation of referrals or prescriptions, the performance of evaluation
