Yes region restrictions also apply to computer drives. I don’t know if compaq does this or not, but assuming its the same thing as a mac, you should be able to play the disc a limited number of times before the drive will lock to the particular region code of that disc. Also, you could try changing the firmware of the drive, though this is a dangerous process and could cause the drive to become non-functional.
