Can a regular local printing company with an English-based system handle Japanese files?

0

Yes, they can if it is prepared in a graphic format. Brochures, posters, etc. are commonly designed and formatted using software called QuarkXpress and printers often print English language material directly from such Quark files. Japanese versions of print material must be formatted in a Japanese version of QuarkXpress and printing companies are not normally equipped to handle these files. Japan Communications delivers all final work as graphic files (Illustrator EPS) embedded into regular English-system Quark files. Any printing company can handle these. Another format for print material that is gaining popularity is print-ready high-resolution PDFs. With the Japanese fonts embedded in the file, any print shop can handle these.
