Can an inked print on a check be entered into CAL-ID?

Yes, inked prints on checks can be run through CAL-ID, however we recommend that store owners be advised to place the print on a blank portion of the check so that any pattern will not interfere with the inked print. We have found in many cases (with hits) that the subject identified is the same as the endorsee of the check and does in fact have a record. Therefore it would pay your investigator to make every attempt to identify the subject through record checks first. If a CII# can be obtained we would be able to make a simple comparison without the need of a tracing/entry thus saving you some money.
