Can anyone help me Identify type and year of Colt revolver SN291455 on handle butt?
If it is a double-action revolver with a swing-out cylinder, it is probably a Police Positive. If it is a single-action, i.e. the hammer must be c-o-c-k-e-d before firing, it is a Model P, aka Peacemaker. I don’t remember the serial number runs, but if there is not a spring-loaded plunger retaining the cylinder pin, it was made prior to 1899, and might well be rather valuable, depending on condition.
