Can anyone tell me how to make a simple voodoo doll?
Rummage around in your kitchen drawer until you find the gingerbread man cookie cutter. Lay it down on a folded piece of unbleached muslin. Add 1/4″ for seam allowance and cut it out. Sew the pieces together all around the body except the top of the head. Clip the seam allowance at the points where it turns in (underarms, side of neck, crotch) and turn it right side out. Stuff it with cotton or wool fleece. Use overcast stitches to close the opening in the head. That’s all anyone would do to sell you one. After that, you want to look to your Voodoo instruction book for how to proceed. Presumably there is to be something for hair, perhaps eyes and mouth, and certainly some kind of anointing or smudging to dedicate it to its magical purpose. Oh, incidentally, don’t forget the three-fold law. If you plan to use this voodoo doll to hurt someone else, think about what it would do to you if three people had similar dolls and did the same things with the intent to case you harm.
