Can AutoCad read Shapefiles?

Version that precede AutoCAD 2002 cannot read shapefiles. However there are several software products that can convert the Shapefile into a format readable. Feature Manipulation Engine is one such product. In Autocad2002: if you have the Map Software package installed, you can import shape file by going to Map > Tools > Import to read ESRI Shapefiles into a CAD drawing. If you are working in ArcGIS 8.x: Open up ArcCatalog. Click on ArcToolBox. Once in ArcToolbox, expand the “Conversion Tools” section, then scroll down to “Export From Shapefile” and expand that section. Click on the “Shapefile to DFX” tool.
