Can cremains be scattered anywhere?
Almost anywhere. Ashes may be scattered over inland waters with the permission of the appropriate state controlling agency. Scattering ashes over federally-managed lands (national parks, etc…) may be conducted with permission of the managing federal agency. Cremains may be scattered more that three miles off the coast over the Atlantic ocean as long as the appropriate EPA offices are notified. Finally, scattering ashes over privately-owned lands may be conducted with the permission of the landowner. Aeriis will take care of all of the necessary permits and paperwork.
