Can customers with SBS 2008 Premium upgrade their 2nd server to Windows Server 2008 R2 (WS 2008 R2) once it’s available?
A. Customers can have WS 2008 R2 (purchased separately) in the SBS 2008 domain and access them using SBS 2008 CALs (WS 2008 R2 CALs are not needed). However, customers with Software Assurance (SA) on SBS 2008 Premium are not entitled to an upgrade of their 2nd server to WS 2008 R2, as component products of SBS cannot be upgraded separately per the licensing agreement.
