There are many variables that affect the cost of building your own home, depending primarily on the location and features of the land you choose to build upon. A sample estimate for a basic 30’x 52′ home would be approximately $15,000 for the permits, $8,000 to connect the utilities (if close by), $15,000 for site prep and the foundation, $3,500 for surveying and engineering costs (if needed), $17,000 to set up the home on your foundation, $20,000 on a garage (we have arranged a great price for our customers) and $2,500 more in miscellaneous costs — plus the cost of the land and home, which we could say, for the sake of this example, would be $25,000 for the land and $89,000 for the house. The total price would therefore be $195,000 in this example.
