Can I as a foreign exchange student graduate in US ?

If you are coming for the traditional year as an exchange student, the odds are not in your favor. A few schools WILL graduate exchange students, but most will not. Ours does, but it’s one of the few and our students have to prove that they can meet all of the graduation requirements! They need full, translated transcripts from their own country and must take everything that’s required for the American kids that they don’t have. That means doubling on American History and American government for example. Most schools will enroll you as a senior because then you are not required to take many of the standardized tests our students take. Some will even let you “walk” (that means participate in the graduation ceremony) However, they will not award you a diploma, rather just a certificate of attendance. You may get lucky, and your host family should be able to tell you before you arrive so that you can plan your classes accordingly. Good luck!
