Can I connect my dbx EQ to my Hi-Fi gear?
The dbx EQs operate at +4 dBu. Most hi-fi/consumer gear operates at -10 dBV. To avoid unwanted noise and distortion, it is recommended that line level switching boxes be used to connect between these types of devices to properly match levels and impedances. These devices will also automatically convert between balanced and unbalanced connections. Below are links to two brands that make these type of converters. You will need one box per stereo connection per conversion. For example one box to convert two channels from -10 dBV up to +4 dBu. Then another box to convert two channels from +4dBu back down to -10 dBV.
