Can I enter the UK on a student visa if I am coming from france and I am an American?
As you are not an EU citizen you cannot work in the UK without a visa – so you need to get a work visa before you even start thinking about coming, leaving and re-entering If you are already in the county you can get your student visa without leaving as long as you have all the relivant paperwork and proof etc If your current visa or if you are visiting as a tourist and your time limit runs out (3 months for tourists) before you get all the paperwork sorted, you would have to leave the country or face being arrested and deported. You could go to France because they have a Visa Waiver for tourists like the UK so you can stay there for 3 months as a tourist. Whist in France you could get the paper work done to re-enter the country.
