Can I please get a brief history of the label? How did Facedown Records originally come about?
Jason Dunn: I started Facedown in December of 1997; next year will be out 10 year anniversary. Facedown was originally a distro and mailorder that I started in early 1997, then as I began to tour with No Innocent Victim, I met some great bands that werent on labels, so I decided to give the label thing a shot. The label caught a good break early on, as a band called Overcome was dropped from Tooth and Nail and looking for a label. I had been friends with them for years, and they trusted me enough to put out a couple of records for them. I must give a lot of the credit to the Overcome guys; if we wouldnt have been able to put them out so early on, we would have had a much tougher start. Don’t get me wrong, it was still a tough task to launch a label–and it’s still not easy–but it helped having a known band on board early on.
