Depending on the type of fresh water fish that are in your tank. Cichlids, and brackish water fish can handle higher Ph balances than most others. Other fish in your tank have to be able to handle a high ph. If you decide to do that, and after research you find that your fish can tolerate it, make sure the coral is washed completely. Boil it for thirty min. afterward put the coral in direct sun for a couple weeks. Make sure this coral has not been processed with any weird coatings and that it was not alive in the recent past.
