Can I request files privately via /msg or /notice?
#Wavaddiction does not support private /msg or /notices for wave requests and *may be* grounds for kick/banning. If you are requesting privately and not intending to, here are some things you can check to fix this problem: If using mIRC, goto file/options/sound tab and uncheck the “send !nick as pvt msg” option. If using WavGet, check the configuration menu (press the folder icon) and uncheck the “use /notice” option. If you are using a custom script – please change the option to in channel requests or better yet, disable the script. If you need assistance with either of the above, please feel free to /query a #Wavaddiction operator, or ask in channel. People dislike private messages for requests, because it opens a new window on the senders system. This takes the windows focus away from another chat window – interrupting them and forcing them to close the new request window and causing them to lose their train of thought (very rude).
