You cannot downgrade an O/S. You will have only 2 choices 1) reformat or 2) install as a new copy – I’m not even sure XP will let you do the latter one unless you boot from the CD. Regardless, you will have to reinstall all the programs because they add files to the windows folder and they add things to your registry. When you install the O/S you will get new versions of both of those. Sorry. Suggestion, wait until W7 shows up as it is much better than Vista. You will be able to download the Release Candidate version next week (it’s available to the public). I have it now on my systems (I get it through subscription) and I am extremely satisified with it (I do a lot of development and system work). If you use W7 then you can upgrade and not lose your current installed software setup.
