No, netLibrary e-books have a specified loan period, usually three days. The reader has to register with netLibrary as a patron (free) then they can sign out any book our Library has purchased. During the signout period the book can be saved to the reader’s computer or read online. The loan procedure means that only one person at a time can read a book that was bought by our consortium. netLibrary does this to guarantee publishers that the books they allow netLibrary to sell are the equivalent of single print copies. This means publishers don’t have to worry about losing sales by having netLibrary distribute electronic copies. Why is the Library buying e-books?
