One ethernet cable should be fine, see if you can connect wirelessly first, if you can’t, take the ethernet cable and go from the router to the PC, then you should be able to log into the router and set it up (using the web browser), then once it’s set up, connect it to the modem (you may need to reset the modem, not all modems need to be reset though), at that point, you can wirelessly connect to the router, if your computer doesn’t have a wireless card, you can either buy a wireless card, or buy an ethernet cable to connect the computer Whatever you decide to do, don’t connect the router with ethernet and the computer with USB, if you use the router, you must connect the computer to the router, by the time you connect the router, the USB connection becomes inactive, being yoy only have one IP, so either the USB connection will get the IP or the ethernet connection will get the IP, but not both at the same time
