Can I still accept a magnetic stripe card after the market migrates to Chip? / What if I do not migrate to Chip & PIN?
Yes. Because not all countries will be moving to Chip, for the foreseeable future, you should still expect to see cards with magnetic stripe only, or EMV-compliant Chip cards with or without a PIN, and should accept all of them equally. All cards will retain both magnetic stripe and Chip functionality. As a best practice, American Express recommends conducting a thorough business case analysis that recognizes the complete costs and benefits realised from Chip adoption.
