Can I throw away my VHS / Hi8 / Video8 / miniDV / Digital8 / MicroMV tapes after conversion?

Having mentioned that converted videos are not a 1:1 copy (see explanation), we recommend storing the tapes in airtight containers in a cool dry place for future technologies such as Blu-Ray which promise higher quality conversions for your VHS / Hi8 / Video8 / miniDV / Digital8 / MicroMV tapes. Make backups of your DVDs at least once per year. The easiest way to do this is to store the digital files in the hard disk. We have a guide on how to do this.
