Can I use a DVD Recorder to record footage from a games console?

Sure you can do this. Connect the game console to one of the inputs on the DVD recorder, and set the DVD recorder to use that input. (On my DVD recorder, there’s IN1 and IN2, for instance.) Set the TV to its input where the DVD recorder is plugged in. With the game console on, you should see the game on the TV. Now just hit record on the DVD recorder and it’ll be recording your game play. Hit stop on the recorder to stop recording. If you mess up, you can delete that recording from the disc and try again. When you’re finished, be sure to finalize the DVD (check your recorder’s manual for how to do this). Unless you’ve finalized the DVD, it won’t be playable on other DVD players or your computer. When that’s finished, pop the DVD into your computer, and now you can rip, edit, and convert the video to your heart’s content.
