Can I use the Green Money Card to make reservations for hotels and car rentals?
It depends on the hotel or car rental company. When you make a reservation at a hotel or car rental company it is called an ‘open end transaction’. That means the total amount due is unknown. The hotel or car rental company has the right to authorize more than the initial payment to cover damages that could occur during your stay or car rental period. The hotel or car rental company can place a hold on these funds for 30 days for hotels and up to 90 days for car rentals. Many times the card will not have sufficient funds to cover additional charges; for this reason some hotels or car rental companies do not accept prepaid cards. However, some hotels and car rental companies will accept prepaid cards under special rules; therefore, we recommend you first call the hotel or car rental company and inquire about their prepaid card policy.
