Can i worm my horse with Panacur 25?
Yes, it likely can be used if you can find the appropriate dose for your horse. It should NEVER be used if you don’t know the dose, not so much because of risk of toxicity but because you don’t want to underdose a dewormer. That being said, the use of fenbendazole in adult horses is of little use. Small strongyles (the main parasite you want to target in adult horses) have developed resistance to fenbendazole in 90+% of areas tested worldwide. So this drug is likely not going to be effective. Plus, trying to use drenches on horses is a poor idea because of the sheer amount of product that you must use. Unless you are tubing them, it’s simply too easy to loose most of your dewormer and thus underdose. (Which adds to the risk of parasites becoming resistant to the drug you are using.) Paste dewormers are a much better choice. You need to focus on using effective products at an appropriate dose and only as needed rather than on the old “every 6-8 weeks” programs.
