Can inmates phone home or their friends?
Yes, inmates are allowed to make collect calls, from public phones located in the institutions, to up to 20 authorized telephone numbers (5 while he/she is at the Reception and Evaluation Center). He/she must follow these procedures to obtain approval for each phone number: complete Telephone Privilege Request; obtain a Personal identification Number (PIN); and provide first page of the telephone bill of the person to be called. Institutional telephone coordinators help inmates with these procedures.
