Can legionella evade chemical water treatments?

0

Chemical treatments can be highly effective in significantly reducing the numbers of legionella in clean water systems, but not eradicating them. Legionella can lose contact with chemicals by entering underused deadlegs, sludge, debris and biofilms. In the unlikely event of legionella being completely eradicated it is only a matter of time before the bacteria re-enters the building water services from municipal supplies where it is commonly found in low numbers.
