Can Manifold use data in external databases?
Yes. Manifold has by far the greatest DBMS connectivity of any GIS. Manifold includes numerous standard facilities, such as ODBC, OLE DB, ADO. NET, Jet and the Oracle Call Interface (OCI) as well as Manifold-specific facilities such an auto-adaptive DBF driver, auto-scanning CSV and other text type table driver and numerous other custom features to assure maximum connectivity to external databases, to allow import, export or linking (including read/write linkage) to data in almost any form in external databases. Manifold can construct drawings from geocoded tables or from geometry stored in external DBMS using Oracle SDO_GEOMETRY, OGC WKB geometry, ESRI-style geodatabase geometry or Manifold GEOM formats. In addition, images and surfaces may be stored in Oracle GeoRaster format or as generic table values. In addition, Manifold provides an Enterprise Server storage model allowing shared storage of any type of Manifold components in centralized databases. Enterprise Edition or above is r
