Can my female cockatiel live with my finches?
Interesting…I’ve never tried finches with a cockatiel, but cockatiels do well with parakeets for sure. My only concern is that their diets would be pretty different, correct? You want to make sure the cockatiel is eating his food and the finches their food. Other than that, it’s a good idea to try it and “supervise” the situation carefully for a few hours first before leaving them unattended together, and even then only for a short time until you’re comfortable that they’re getting along. Keep in mind also that even though you have a large cage, finches are quite delicate (wings and legs), whereas cockatiels can be kind of clunky and obviously much bigger. You need to observe to see what the little guys do when the cockatiel decides to do his eagle imitation and flap his wings, or falls of his perch, etc. My guess is if the cage is that big, they’ll just sort of retreat to opposite sides but will get along.
