Can nurse independent prescribers prescribe preparations containing controlled drugs e.g. co-codamol?

0

Nurse independent prescribers can independently prescribe preparations containing, in combination with other medicines, controlled drugs which are listed in the formulary of controlled drugs which nurse independent prescribers can prescribe from (see BNF Nurse Prescribers’ Formulary – Nurse Independent Prescribing), provided the indication and route of administration is as listed in the table, and that they are working within their competence. This would therefore include, for example, oral co-codamol 30/500.

Hi there, my friend is 23 years of age and has been taking in excess of 30 tablets of co codamol 30/500 and also tramadol for about 8 years, i have told her it is killing her slowley but she keeps telling me she is in pain with her back or her leggs or period pains or headachs, all of this is lies as she is just adicted to these pills, she is always awake at night and sleeps most of the day. i have taken her to the doctor and got very little help, she is very paranoied and she is very lazy and i dont know wot to do to help her, i love her with all my heart but i cannot support this kind of addiction. she is being given these tablets by a friend of hers on a regular basis and are not prescribed to her. i need as much information on this so that i may be able to shock her into comming of these pills
