Can Predictive Science Academic Alliances program (PSAAP) funds be requested to support experiments related to proposed PSAAP activities? How do we deal with this in our proposals?

ASC PSAAP proposals can request funds for experimentation. We have not specified a specific limit on the percentage of the funding requested for such activities and will evaluate the request in the context of the total proposal. We would expect that the critical data needed for verification and validation and demonstrating predictive capabilities will likely come from a range of sources: published data; explicitly funded experiments; leveraged partnerships within the academic community, other DOE and government laboratories, industry, and NNSA laboratories. Having a credible plan for obtaining the data needed for verification and validation and demonstrating prediction within your chosen application domain and supporting science and engineering will be a key part of the proposal evaluation process.
