It doesn’t help that you’ve already embraced certain political conclusions without a solid philosophical basis for these beliefs. Objectivism is a very libertarian position. Although they work with an objective morality, they generally believe only in hurting others if those people pose a threat to you (self-defense, or “retaliatory force,” as the philosophy thinks of it). However, animals are not considered to have rights, and the environment isn’t protected (except as private property, but that’s a discussion too long to do justice here). Animal testing is something that Objectivists tend not to have a problem with, but many of them are against the death penalty (not all of them…it’s actually complicated and much-discussed topic).
