Can someone explain me “Daffodils” by William Wordsworth?
There are no correct interpretations of anything in literature, but here’s my take on it. The poet, Wordsworth, is essentially writing of his love for daydreaming, especially about daffodils. You can see this when he writes, “For oft, when on my couch I lie / In vacant or in pensive mood / They flash upon that inward eye / Which is the bliss of solitude / And then my heart with pleasure fills”. These few lines mean that when he is worried or sad, he thinks about beautiful things to cheer himself up. The main message of this poem is, especially in the line “And dances with the daffodils”, that no matter where you are, true happiness is just a thought away. That’s just my interpretation of it.
