The goal of the game is to get the least amount of points possible. The game is over after some reaches 100 or more points. Each round starts off with everyone having 13 cards. A “trick” is what you call the 4 cards that (1 per player) everyone plays. So basically, each round consists of 13 “tricks”. At the end of each round, points are tallied and scored. When a player wins a “trick” (by playing the highest card of the suit), he gets all 4 cards of that “trick”. Points are arranged like this. For all Hearts cards that a player has won at the end of the round are 1 point each. If a player won the Queen of Spades, that’s 13 points. There is also something called “Shooting the Moon” that involves a single player winning all the Hearts as well as the Queen of Spades. In this case, that single player gets zero points and all other players get 26. However, this isn’t recommended since failure leads to a big penalty.
