Unless the sperm comes into contact with the vagina, it will die pretty quickly outside the body. Remember though, safe sex is called “safe” for a reason! Sperm can live for several days if you have unprotected sex with someone and ejaculate inside the body. Also, if you use the “withdrawal method” and think you are safe, think again because semen is often emitting from the penis long before the actual orgasm stage. If they then ovulate during the time the sperm live inside the body, there is always a risk of pregnancy. The only way to ensure safety from pregnancy and diseases is a condom. If you are in a long term, monogamous relationship then maybe an alternative method.
