Can STATISITCA automatically classify the variables so that I don have to explicitly define the measurement type of the variables?

Yes. By default, STATISTICA defines the measurement type of a variable as Auto and will automatically determine the measurement type based on the values of the variable. Options to control how STATISTICA determines the measurement type of a variable are located on the Analyses/Graphs tab of the Options dialog, accessible by selecting Options from the Tools menu.
