Can stretch marks eventually fade and disappear?

Wish they would…. No they don´t disappear. A strech mark is a scar resulting from the break of fibroblasts in the skin when stretched too suddenly (like a pregnancy, or even from growing up). There are treatments to make them less noticeable (the lighter the strech mark, the more difficult it will be though). One such treatment is microdermabrasion, the layers of skin are “polished” away and, as with any scar, they will appear lighter and less noticeable. Another possibility is a series of chemical peels (usually with mandelic acid). But all those treatments are performed by a cosmiatrist. Over-the-counter creams hardly work, as they are not strong enough to make a difference. They can, however, PREVENT stretch marks by keeping the area well moisturized and therefore, less prone to breakage of collagen fibroblasts. I hope this wasn´t too technical, sometimes I get carried away. And I hope this helps too 🙂 Good luck!
