Can Syrian Hamster Live together?
Adult Syrian hamsters should never be kept in the same cage. Unless breeding, they would fight and potentially kill each other.
Syrian hamsters by nature are solitary and should have their own separate enclosure. When they are younger they can share the same area, but once they reach adulthood after about 7 to 8 weeks, they should be separated or there will be a risk of territorial or mating disputes.
No they can not be housed together, unless you want to wake up one morning to find one dead and being eating by the other. If you want a few hamsters living together you will need to get dwarfs as they can live in groups. http://en.wikipedia.
That is a very very stupid person who is inbreeding their hamsters. Syrians in the wild do not live together, mothers leave the babies after 3-4 weeks of age and they all disband afterards, they are meant as solitary creatures regardless of whether they have been housed together previously or were born together. The older they get, the more they will start to fight, and with so little space it’ll turn into vicious fighting. Are you willing to risks your hamsters lives because you want to cram as many into a small cage ? If you want more then one, consider dwarf breeds, never, ever place syrians together.
